Dr. OZ

Yep, I'm guilty, I watch the Dr. Oz show on occasion and I saw an episode the other day that gave some really good, affordable beauty and skincare tips so I thought I'd share them. I haven't tried them yet however I will soon and I will post the results and whether or not I think they are worth trying.

Complexion smoothing mask
  • 2 tbs gram flour (ground up chickpeas or garbanzo beans
  • 1/4 tbs turmeric (spice but also an antioxidant)
  • 2 tbs milk
Mix well creating a pudding like texture. Apply a light film to whole face or any area of the body you feel you have discoloration, avoiding skin close to the eyes. leave on until dry about 20 minutes, loosen and remove with warm water and buff off with finger tips. This should leave your skin glowing and translucent. According to the expert, many brides use this treatment during the weeks prior to their weddings.

Chapped lip therapy
  • Dry soft tooth brush, for exfoliating lips
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp honey
Exfoliate you lips lightly with the tooth brush for just a few seconds, you don't want to go too long causing irritation. Mix the lemon juice, sugar, and honey together not completely dissolving the sugar. The lemon juice will help to remove any lipstick stain and dry skin, somewhat like an acid peel, the sugar is your exfolient and you honey is a moisturizer and healer. Apply lightly in a rolling pattern, not too hard and only for a few seconds. Remove from lips with a damp cloth then apply a small dab of honey as a finally moisturizer.

Shiny smooth hair
  • Almond oil
Almond oil will soak into the hair follicles leaving your hair feeling smooth, looking shiny and silky and providing strength helping to prevent breakage and split ends. Warm almond oil and massage into hair, wrap hair in a warm towel and let sit for 30 to 60 minutes. Wash, condition and style!
